This Flight Risk Assessment Tool is offered to enhance safety by the Sling Safety Network. It is based on the FAA's General Aviation Flight Risk Assessment Tool model and is intended to support, not replace, the pilot's own aeronautical decision-making. A numerical score is one input among many; the pilot in command remains solely responsible for the final go/no-go decision and for the safe conduct of the flight.
The risk score updates live at the bottom of the screen as answers are entered, and is color-coded green (low), yellow (moderate), or red (high). The Flight Information fields describe the specific flight; the Risk Assessment categories capture the conditions and factors that apply to it. Selections can be changed at any time before submitting.
Scores in the Moderate or High range suggest a closer look at mitigation options — a conversation with a CFI may be useful before the flight.
After submission, a copy of the responses and final score is emailed to the pilot and, where applicable, the CFI.
